There are some instances where fighting with the camera can be a little frustrating, and some of the combat can be a little buggy, but other than a few minor flaws this game has breathtaking graphics and an amazing storyline. The gameplay is very easy to follow and linear albeit repetitive is some parts, but unlike in most other games it doesn't take away from the entertainment the ensues from chapter to chapter. Overall this a great game and I definitely recommend it to any type of gamer.
Relatively unknown title that somehow slipped through the cracks, unable to even muster the courage to become a sleeper hit or a cult classic. You see it all the time at Game stores for like 15$ but you aren't sure if it's worth it... Well, it is. It's totally worth it. Luckily, you can just as easily rent it from Gamefly and that's good enough.
Graphics: A colorful Gears of War
Sounds: Spot on, and a powerful performance by the main characters. The facial expressions of Trip are especially beautiful.
Gameplay: Average but it gets the job done. Average platforming, average puzzle solving, average combat. The combat is probably the weakest part because you can tell they wanted it to be something more akin to the Arkham series but it ended up being a straight forward X = Regular Attack, Y = Strong attack. At least the combat animations are flashy if not somewhat limited.
Story: Above average for sure. From what I understand it was written by the guy who wrote 28 Days Later? I think? In any case it's an updated take on the whole Son Goku super monkey on a cloud Chinese story but it's done SO well!
Honestly, this game is average on all accounts but when you combine everything it really does rise above other games that spring to mind when you think "a bit better than average."
If you like Action-Adventure 3rd person games then this may become your next favorite title. Certainly worth a rent to at least see what some companies dare to do with a new IP.
This game got lost in all the C.O.D. hype of 2010, and is definitely a must try. It truly is a testimony to the effort and commitment the developers put into it, not only the gameplay, but the wonderful story. I brought this at Gamestop for under $10!! Refreshing and pleasurable experience.
