Amazing changes, worth a buy!

This game has pulled away from Oblivion in many ways. The battles are more epic, the quest are more interesting, and there are battles with dragons (need I say more?). All combat is basically the same as Oblivion but instead of going into gates and having to run a gauntlet every 10 minutes you can walk around and at any given moment a dragon can fly down and initiate combat.

Of course you are given the proper tools for dispatching these dragons. With a follower behind you (which is a must if you are like me and put it on the hardest difficulty) you can take turns sharing blows, or if you go mage style like I did on my first round then you can use your companion as a tank. The companion system has been improved to the point to where you won't just feel like the companion is getting in the way. You can order them around and if you use special followers (say someone from thieves guild) you can order them to pick a lock or if they are in your way u can tell them to move.

Also with a massive civil war going on in Skyrim between two factions, you choose a side and get to freely slaughter many enemy soldiers. Truthfully there is SO MUCH content in the game and so many side quests I have spent over 100 hours and maybe reached a halfway point. Thankfully lag is reduced on this game from Bethesda (Fallout: New Vegas had horrible lag), and you will only experience a few things lagging a bit, but I didn't see this until I was deep into the game.

Overall Bethesda outdid themselves. The storyline is excellent and considering it seems like two different main storylines going at once with the dragons and the civil war, you got plenty to keep you busy.

I RARELY buy games anymore because of Gamefly, but this game is one of the few games that I proudly say that I own. With only a few minor bugs here and there, this game gets a score of 10 from me. The game seems to never end, and that in my book is always a plus!

A rare type of game

Very rarely does a game come along that, despite any hiccups, glitches, or struggles it poses in gameplay, move you to such a degree as Elder Scrols V: Skyrim. By now, Bethesda has addressed many unknown variable issues and attempted to send out patches to correct the wrongs each individual player has ecnountered, but that is niether here nor there. Where Skyrim succeeds is creating a distinct, vast, universe where even the mundane tasks from smithing to alchemy are a vast joy and enrich the experience of craftring a character and a world of your own. Skyrim gets so many aspects right, allowing you to select a race at the story's beginnning, but craft your character in a way that you never feel bound to that choice. Want a nord for his strength and combat skills, go ahead, and then craft his magic and alchemy to level out to that of a mage, or further develop his combat skills to make him an unstoppable melee machine. Once you craft your character, and discover the world of Skyrim, you'll quickly learn the joy of battling dragons or crossing the frozen tundra on a quest only to pick up three more along the way, and wind up sidetracked into a fourth mission that almost demands (only in your head) immediate attention, only to pick up three more quests in relation to that one. If anything, Bethesda continues to learn from its previous massive RPG's, and if this is any indication, the Fallout series, which is sure to be next on the list, has a very promising future ahead of it.

I've had this game since it first came out and am no where near done exploring or doing side missions and quests. I've logged about 100 hours and there is still so much I haven't seen or done. This is easily the best and most favorite game I've ever played (close with God of War). I stopped playing for a while but now im back into it and loving it. It was a little laggy at first when it came out but what do you expect? I have over 11mb saved on this game and it runs smoother than ever now that a patch has been released. There is so much stuff in this game. It's awesome. If you love RPG's, and even if you don't, you'll love this game. There's something in this game for every type of gamer. I would recommend renting it at first to see if you like it, and then buy it. Even if you buy it first, I promise you won't be disappointed! Perfect game

Game of the Year for A Reason

Out of all of the RPGs, MMOs, and various types of games out there, Skyrim would definitly be on the top of my list just from the details on the graphics and physics generator! The vast amounts of choices and life-like gaming scenario the game gives the player is so immense, you will feel as if you really are in another time fighting dragons. I personally favor Skyrim because of the ability to fight dragons, absorb their soul, learn their language, and use shouts to your advantage. The gigantic map and 3D abilities on the map also help the player for when they are trying to find a specific spot or point on the map. This game is so extravagent and well-detailed that they deserve the game of the year award and any other award they earn because of all of the hard work gone into this game. Good job guys!!

SKYRIM, the best game ever.

This is my first elder scrolls game, and i gotta say, it's great. the game can be over whelming at first, but it's easy to catch on. (it only took a few days!) the array of weapons, magic, bows, sheilds, and armors is awesome. and the vast lay of the land is awesome, and dungeons and caves and missions. and you can do whatever you want. don't want to do the main quest? join a guild, do deeds for the people, i don't care! everythings up to you. even in combat. want to swing around a battleaxe, decimating your foes? me too! you can also shoot fire and be a magic god, or sneak with a dagger and assassinate people. the people are great to, they ACT like their actuall people. they attack enimies, kill other people, and do everyday town things. and speaking of people, that's not all your limited too! you can pick from a bunch of different human species, sure, but you also got elves, lizards, cat-like-things! and everything has a story behind it. nothing's there just to be there, there's a in-depth story to tell you about them and why they happen to be in your way.
my only complaint is it has a tendency to crash on PS3, i don't know about the other systems. and when the game DOES glich (this is rare) it's one of those, "well, restart your system, because we just froze on you!
anyway, SKYRIM's a great game, i approve and recommend this to every single person alive. and if you don't like it, (what's wrong with you?!) i would recommend the fallout games, i don't like them much, but there for the people on the other side of the spectrum. so enjoy, and i hope you love this game as much as i do.

Skyrim Review

I've grown up with the elder scroll series and played them all. I like this game as much as the others. My review is of course biased because i'm faithful to the series :)

The only complaint I have (and had with oblivion as well) was that you can be a member of the theives guild, assassin's guild, mage guild, etc, all at the same time and be the leader of each one. I feel the game does a diservice here. These should all be on opposing factions of some sort. Plus, how the heck can you "run" a guild if you're off doing these for the other guilds. Just my own sticking point.

ps. i'm also a die-hard fan of the Fallout Series so, like i said, my opinion is biased towards the like category.

What an amazing game, lives up to its predecesors and surpasses them. Yes, there are some glitches, but the game more than makes up for them. I just finished the first time around and I am playing another time through. It took me months to finish and I know I missed some side quests. Beautiful graphics, endless interaction, endless fun. Best game I have played in a long time. And the best part, I got what i expected!

Best game I've played in a while.

There really hasn't been a game where I really didn't want to stop playing. It comes to a point where I would rather play this game then go outside and interact with the world, forsaking friends, and my job, or denying my own bodily needs. I swear I held in my need to urinate for the first 10 hours I played. My sad life aside this is an excellently executed game. The soundtrack is magnificent. The graphics when viewed in close quarters can be a bit off but with over 100 hours of things to do who's complaining? The only thing I would say is that had I not started off as a Mage and acquired my Clairvoyance spell I would be somewhat lost to traveling the realm of Skyrim. I believe I spent three hours trying to get into an area within the mountains. (To be specific you needed to go through a specific flight of stairs that lead you through, and I wandered around aimlessly thinking I would walk up the mountain side. Amateur I know.) But I cannot fault the game for something that is clearly my fault. Only thing I would recommend is to have some kind of laptop or guide with you while playing so you don't get frustrated. Other than that this game is by far one of the best I've ever played in a while.

The game is well made and very worthy of taking people's time up, but I recommend to anyone playing this game that they play this for a little while and give it a break, because if you play this game nonstop for a week you will be bored with it. I'm only saying this because I've seen my friends have this happen to them.

This game is down right awesome. It doesn't even matter whether or not you are a fan of RPG style games, if you are a fan of video games you will love this game. The graphics and character designs are great it AND it is an open world game. AND you can do anything you want: make your on weapons and armor, get married, just wonder around, and lets not leave out dragon slaying!. You can be anything you want as well: a warrior, thief, wizard, assassin, bard and many more. Now for the pros and cons..

Pros- excellent gameplay
Full immersion in your character
Complete Freedom
Near perfect graphics
really fun combat
150 plus hours

Cons- people have been complaining about glitches but i havent had that many
sometimes the framerate is awful for a few minutes
I sometimes lose track of time and play TOO long

Basically play this game!

One of the best games i've played in a long time. Graphics are excellent, story lines are superb, and gameplay control is fun and fairly easy to control.

The only downside I can see if any , is that their is no online play, which would of made it over the top. Would of like to get with friends online and done quests and battled bosses, rather than hire and AI.

Alot like WoW in many ways, but more realistic and detailed. The battlegrounds of WoW would of been excellent to have in Skyrim, but all in all i give this game a 10 and as much as i find the games today are way over priced when so many are failures this game is actually worth the money to buy. Bought after i tried it for 1 night, and love playing it! Excellent game!!

I got this game on a Thursday, and played it for an hour. The next day, I called off of work and played it for nine hours straight. I've been waiting for a truly GREAT RPG for the PS3, and we finally have it. The next I bought the game and the strategy guide.

If you are going to play through the game, I'd definitely recommend spending $26 on the strategy guide.

The Apex of the Role-Playing Genre

This game is the reason mankind crawled out of the primordial ooze. The graphics are beautiful. The game-play is exciting. The story is compelling. The setting is massive and feels very much alive. There are so many places to go, things to see, and character combinations to try. If you like RPG's you will be playing this for months.

Downsides: There are some glitches, but they are avoidable. Don't try to power level! The game knows that you are trying to cheat and it will hand you a whoopin.

As they continue to fix bugs the game is proving to be a much better experience than it's previous Oblivion. Don't sell your dragon masks and choose to take every daedric weapon and you will have a much harder time shooting yourself in the foot than you did in oblivion. Load times begin to lag towards the end of the game.

Fallout With Dragons!

This game is awesome. The map is huge, bigger than any Fallout. Great scenery. The weapons and magic are good. Theres a lot of missions to do, choices to make. Combat is a lot like Fallout, except that you can dual-wield magic and/or weapons. Less buggy than New Vegas, but does have some lag as you get later into the game, especially if your store house is filled with treasure and junk. They say it gives you about 300+ hours of playtime, but you could definitely get more if you're watching net flix movies on the xbox while you PS skyrim. worth a rent or a buy, one of the few games i will platinum and never trade in
