I never picked up Skyrim until recently. It never really looked all that good to me. I just bought the new PS4 and was looking for games to get on that from gamefly. To be quite honest I couldn't find any I've played all the or own them by now. There is just not enough! So I saw this and figured why not. That was about a month and a half ago.
When I got Skyrim in the mail I put it in and was not ready to be very excited. I kid you not within two hours of gameplay I thought this is one of the greatest games I have ever played. I got it the last week of school for me and have been playing it ever since. I think I've played my PS4 maybe twice now this summer. I just love this incredible game! Within a week of renting I gathered together a bunch of old games. Traded them to Gamestop and got a brand new copy of Skyrim Legendary edition. It has rare where there has been a day this summer when I don't turn on Skyrim. There are just sooooo many options. So many quests. So many different playstyles. So many different ways to roleplay. I have made like 12 characters. And each time I make one I get a different feel out of them. Even if they are essentially supposed to be the same character. This one is the one of the fews games I would say have to be a buy! Don't be like me and just eh it off! Get this game to your house now! (Warning once you start you may not be able to stop! :)
I first heard about Skyrim through word of mouth on an MMORPG game. You have to understand, first of all, that I am relatively new to consoles newer than the PS2. For the longest time, I didn't play newer consoles because one, I was to broke to afford one, and two, I was a die-hard fan of older consoles (not just PS2; Nintendo 64, SNES, etc). Now keep this in mind as you read this review.
After a lot of Google research, I decided to take the plunge. I upgraded from a PS2 to a PS3 and bought Skyrim (and one other game).
Let me just say my mind was blown when I first played Skyrim. The graphics, even on my old analog TV, were amazing. The sky was beautiful, the dragons looked like they were about to jump out of the screen and shout at you (see what I did there?), and most of all everything just looked so real - like you could reach out and touch it. It was great.
The first dragon fight was awe inspiring and adrenaline pumping. Every other since has been just as good, if not better now that I know more of what I'm doing, than the first.
The game is so well designed and just huge I'm still wrapping my head around all the different aspects of it: smithing, horse riding, house buying, guild joining, mastering all of the different schools of magic (and that's less than half of it!) - it's amazing how they managed to squeeze so much into one game on one disc!
This game is like no other RPG I've played and as far as I can tell, there's nothing else like it (besides of course, Oblivion). I highly recommend this game to my fellow hardcore RPG players. I say hardcore because this game WILL take weeks, months, to finish. But all that time spent is well rewarded. It's like a great work of art - only it takes a long time to truly appreciate it versus a few minutes. Get this game however you can. If you have a good enough PC, get the Legendary Edition. You get all the DLCs which believe me are more than worth it. You won't regret getting this game.
