I'll keep this review short... which was the amount time i played El Shaddai when i rented it recently through Gamefly. I saw this game at PAX East last year and was curious about it albeit the characters looked like they were taken from some j-pop boy band! Upon playing, i found the animation style of the game pretty but boring, and the first 15 minutes has some god-awful pacing (pun intended based on the game's religious references) plus the gameplay was beyond repetitive to the point i just couldn't justify investing more than 30 minutes in it! Not saying El Shaddai is that bad of a game... okay, i guess i am, but ultimately it wasn't for me!
