Hopes = Sunk

Ecco the Dolphin has been a challenging game since it debut for the Genesis many years ago. So I knew that gameplay was bound to be a hurdle from the get go. Stunning graphics hook you immediately, and the hopes of a great storyline reel you in. Then you start playing.
Tricky controls, and camera movements are as expected extremely frustrating until you practice for a little bit. However, after completing a few small tasks, and messing around on some cute mini-games, it becomes very evident that the story of this game is so lame! Without any real purpose, or guidance on how to complete important tasks, the goal of completion becomes extinct, and just swimming around fighting sharks seems more fun. After spending about 4 hours swimming, jumping, and dancing at the surface of the water with my tail, boredom sets in. Needless to say, my hopes of a great storyline to accompany the great layout sunk to the watery depths. Maybe with some more patience I could try this game again, but for now I'm still feeling a bit waterlogged.
