Getting better, but not equal to the ps2 versions

I'm a big fan of the series but for some reason the franchise keeps taking 1 step forward and 1-2 back. Big problem for me is the lack of the create a character. That was a major improvement in the series and is once again gone. Your left with using whatever annoying or weak character the makers set you with throughout the campaign(and some are real bad or useless). This is offset by the ability to select whatever weapons you want to use but this is limited by the characters mastery of the weapon and your ultimate attack stays the same(be it great or useless). The enemy and friendly A.I. is fairly dumb but that's nothing new to the series. Its still fun to mindlessly hack through hundreds of dim witted A.I. opponents which is kinda the series trademark. The story line has been fleshed out a little bit more in this version which is nice but having to go through it to unlock character for the other modes is irritating when your stuck using someone with a weak or limited range fighting style.
Overall, better than the last but they need to fix the basic's not embellish the story even more.
