Like a cinderella story that involves Babes, booze and bankruptcy, Duke Nukem's development story has been the headline for quite some time, since 1997 to be exact...but as of PAX 2010 the hope and hype of this game seemed to have exploded! I applaud the guys at 2k and Gearbox for taking over the project and finish it up for the duke fans out there, its been a long running and it feels worth the wait!
First off, this is for all of the negative reviews out there, THIS IS DUKE NUKEM NOT HALO OR CALL OF DUTY!!! Who cares if they added a modern day health and weapon system, SO WHAT! This game is meant for the classic gamers out there, but it doesn't steer modern gamers away too much. So what if the graphics are dated, just go back and count how many engines this game has been through and see how much work was put in to make this game, the 3D realms guys need credit!
My Verdict, warning, game not for kids!
The Good: -The gameplay FEELS like a duke nukem game, if you havent played one, Duke 3D is on the XBL Arcade.
-The amount of things you do in this game is amazing, you do much more than shoot aliens, you can play pool, air hockey, pinball and more within the main game!
-The one liners from Jon St. John are back and better than ever!
-Graphics are dated but as i said before there are alot of old and new engines combined into this game.
-Controls, a bit wonky but this game is coming from PC devs from back in the day so if your biggest problem is this then get the pc version!
-Multiplayer, classic style multiplayer is great fun but there are much better games out there if you're looking for a BIG multiplayer experience
-My biggest gripe goes towards the critic sites out there...i mean you give a game SO MUCH hype then destroy it with a bad score...yes they are opinions but cmon a company went bankrupt and a new company worked endlessly for this to come out. These sites are the reason for most bad sales...

First let me state for the record that the reviews DNF is getting are completely unfair. 3.5 from gamespot, really….
Now the game is not candidate for GOTY but a 7 is a fair rating.
- Gameplay is actually fun
- The sexual innuendo is funny
- Gameplay is varied enough to keep it interesting.
- The graphics are sub par no question there. Anti-aliasing is especially bad
- There is some slowdown issues but not many
Overall I am not sure what the professional reviewers were expecting. This is not COD and is not trying to be. It’s an B movie shooter that tries not to take itself too seriously.

Duke Nukem Forever is a lame attempt at reviving a classic shooter. While it does have potential, it ultimately does not live up to its high expectations due to lousy graphics, a boring story, and repetitive combat. Had this been on the N64, it would have been great. But we're 2 generations removed, and it has not improved one bit.
