First off, basic pro's and con's Pros: Card-deck building Card-combining for upgraded ones Overall ease of play Use of minigames to enhance the main combat play RPG feel to upgrading your units Variety of units you can use. Non-story levels (Badlands) you can do for more items 'Secret' Crests that you can use for more cards/recipes 'Extra' xp after each fight to give to any units you want. All units (even non combatant ones) get xp after every fight.
Cons: Writing. While a bit informative, it's really just bad A bit of a 'grind' based to keep your units at good levels to handle the game
Overall: A fun title, Strategy RPG-esque title with an interesting insect-based twist. The story is really pretty bad/campy, but the gameplay is VERY easy to pick up and run with. At least 2 or 3 difficulty settings, and with the Badlands to go through to skill/level up your guys, unless you're playing on the hardest setting, and/or just really bad at playing these types, it shouldn't be unplayable at all. Eventually you get 8 (9 including the mobile 'base' snail) units for every battle and 16 one-shot cards per battle also, giving a good range of things you can do. Some of the minigames get a touch boring, but it's nice how they're always against the 'AI', in terms of being active. Outside of the rapid-tap one for the melee/gun boost attack cards, all of the others are never quite the same game twice. And it's nice that there's 5 or 6 different games for it. At times the game gets a little boring from the grind of re-doing some levels for 'unique' upgrades (like the winding key that almost any unit can use), or to just get more cards for combining. And, just leveling up your units can grind a bit.
All in all, if you've got a good strategic mind, and enjoy a good bit of tweaking along with your strategy gameplay, I'd say you should be able to enjoy and do well at this game.
After completing all three Advance War series, Front Missions, Anno 1701, Destiny Soldiers, Age of Empires, I would put this title just below Advance Wars. Customizing and earning ore to create weapons is fine. Adding cards to strategy is great but I am disappointed most of the battles are with 4 bugs under your control. You can't create "armies" like Advance Wars but then again this game has mini-games to unlock the cards as well as building card decks. A solid strategy game that is an 8 or 8.5 if you want something different but still strategy. I would rent it or Anno 1701 if you want something new.
like i said up there this game is REALY hard, the first battles are easy but by the 3rd or 4th you fight your first boss, this boss is imposible. she is at level 10 while you are at level 2-3, her attacks kill you in one shot, but i was thinking "ok maybe you get experience in the end even if you lose" but you dont, so it is imposible. the game fighting was cool, the wrighting was LAME, artwork was cool, you have the ability to customize your people, that was a plus (make a team symbol, make your team the color you want, add on more powerful weapons), if i could give this game a 0 i would, THE WORST GAME I'VE EVER PLAYED IN MY LIFE (and i've played a lot of games)
