Okay, Driv3r was awful. That's all there was to it. The storyline was awful, and shooting was awful, it was just awful awful. Awful. This one's a major improvement, though it tries to hard to rip off GTA when it should be blazing its own trail. The storyline is at least followable this time, though it's still predictable and trite. The driving has been much improved and really feels quite good (As it should be, the game's called Driver!) Even better than GTA's simple engine, in my opinion. Unfortunately, GTA has this game beat hands down when it comes to walking around. Your character can't even jump!
In future Drivers, I think that the missions where you have to run around and shoot people should be removed entirely, or at least cut waaaay down. Or they should rename the game "Driver and sometimes Shooter." Be honest here, Atari! They're utterly unenjoyable in my opinion. How bad are they? The developers scatter healthpacks IN EVERY ROOM because it's just impossible to avoid being shot. It doesn't matter how good you are, there's no way to take cover and shoot at the same time.
The sum it up, it's a good game, but I wish it wouldn't do so much to ensure it would be compared to GTA. The side missions are complete GTA, and so are the collectible Hidden Packa... I mean, stars. If you like GTA style games, pick it up for a rental. You'll probably enjoy yourself.
