I had the displeasure of buying this before renting it. I'm a very big DBZ fan, especially of the Tenkaichi games. This plays nothing like those. That's ok, it's fine to try different kinds of fighting game concepts. But this is an exception... the fighting is literally just QTE (quick time events, like Guitar Hero). The fighting changes from a short 2D perspective, to a QTE, then ends with either a super move or very short and semi-true Tenkaichi gameplay. And only once in a blue moon will the game let you perform an Ultimate move.
The boss battles are basically all the same. Giant enemy repeating every move, and you're stuck with limited attacks, followed by QTE attacks after a certain point. Rinse and repeat.
All of the battles are repetitive and all of the characters function the exact same. The only redeeming factor is the story mode and the graphics. Some would be excited about the character creation option, but that's even more repetitive and headache inducing than the main game.
If you rent it, you'll want to want to return it the next day.
