The Budokai line of games has always been fun for fans of DBZ and fighting games in general, but Tenkaichi takes the action to a whole new level. The creators have once again tweaked the fighting engine for this game transforming it from a typical side view fighter to more of a first person/dog fight style that allows for fast paced aerial combat that fits perfectly with the DBZ universe. For those familiar with the previous Budokai titles, there is a small adjustment period while you get used to the new camera angles and combo methods. Once you get the hang of the controls players will find this title much faster with shorter cut scene moves and frantic mid air combat. The multiplayer split screen also takes some getting used to, but the intensity of duels makes you quickly forget you are only using half of the screen. The range of selectable characters is the most comprehensive of any of the titles in the series (Yeah Chiaotsu!). In addition players do not have to worry about mid-fight transformations for the characters which allows for a more attack oriented approach. My only complaint with the game is its lack of super move customization for each of the characters. You can adjust the various stats for the characters, but the moves are set. This is a small negative compared to the fun and replay factor that this game provides.
