This game would be much better off with a few adjustments:
Making items easier to see and to pick up.
A MAJOR graphics upgrade (cmon guys, its 2012. get it together).
Better inventory/equipment set up.
Just all around mechanics...I can't explain it, the game just felt "off"
Other than that, the rest of the game is great! The story is intriguing (if not a little confusing), the new elements (character sharing and borrowing) is very exciting, the combat and follower systems...there were just one too many fatal flaws.

Personally I like this better than Skyrim. The combat and controlling of the character is definitely smoother and more realistic. Battling a giant monster and climbing up their back as they attempt to fly off with you on top of them is a lot more fun then getting into a swordplay vs flamethrower competition to see which drops first like in Skyrim. Some of the boss fights, and there are many, are really epic. They're the best part of the game. Imagine Shadow of the Colossus with RPG elements and you got Dragon's Dogma. The game has technical problems but the combat and pawn system are so enjoyable that it made this one of my favorite games of 2012. So many people compare it to Skyrim, but it's the complete opposite for me. Where Skyrim was a technical masterpiece but not that fun (for me), Dragon's Dogma has technical flaws but is enjoyable enough for me to actually invest hours in.

Terrible camera that ruins combat, moronic AI for companions, extremely annoying travel.

Awful non-intuitive menus. "Depth" added by using annoyances like: managing oil level in your lantern which you have to go into a menu to pull out, put away and refill (and realize the lantern is required for a lot of the game); having equipment slots that you can equip more than one piece of equipment in, instead of just having additional equipment categories; and being able to control your companions voice reactions for no reason through questions that are ambiguous as to the results of your answers.

A lot of promise, terrible execution. The problems with this game completely mask the upside: danger at every corner (which would be nice except that to deal with the possibility of dying you have to go into a menu and save all the time, because auto-saves happen about as often my birthday).
