Excellent

A must have for your Wii U collection

If you've been holding out for a a solid Nintendo title that will bring back the classic feel of console gaming, now is the time for you to buy your Wii U. If you already own a Wii U, it's pretty much your BIRTHDAY! Donkey Kong Tropical Freeze brings back so many elements of DK Country with absolutely gorgeous graphics and catchy tunes from the original composer.

Play it, beat it, buy it, and saddle up on your rhino cause there are plenty of secret levels with loads of bananas just waiting to be found. Rayman was great, Donkey Kong is awesome!

Good

Good, but not fresh

It's a very good game, and well made, but, if you've played "Donkey Kong Country Returns" on Wii or 3DS, don't expect anything new. It's basically just more of the same, except I thought "DKC Returns" was better. That's not to say that you shouldn't bother with this otherwise excellent game. Just don't go in looking for a dramatic shake-up.

Great Follow-Up to a Classic, but Not For Me...

This game is true to the Donkey Kong series in every way (I loved playing it on super nintendo when I was a kid). Many of the previous elements like red balloons, 'Rambi the Rhino', and "Evil Boss going out of his way to pick on Donkey Kong -just because-" make a return (haha).

Playing it was nostalgic, and the newer mechanics (like climbing ceilings, co-op moves, etc) make the game much more appealing than the older ones, but it didn't feel new. After playing it with my cousin for an hour, the game became less and less fun, and we pretty much dropped our controllers and gave up.

This game is definitely directed towards a newer generation of gamers among others who still find joy in the series. Unfortunately, I don't fit the category. Even with that said, do not let this discourage you from renting this game, but just know what to expect if you've already played the originals.
