The concept of paint and thinner as a weapon, and the morality system involving the two is pretty unique, but the gameplay is horribly disfigured by a terrible camera angle the majority of the time. It doesn't follow you correctly, doesn't let you aim your brush correctly, and at times obscures things from view and aids in you succeeding at falling to your death or being killed by something due to the fact that you can't see a single thing.
I would rate this a this a 7/10 or 3/5 because I thought the paint/thinner gameplay was intriguing and the level design was well thought out, challenging, and quite nostalgic. It feels like you're roaming around toon town and parts of Disneyland, only it's really dark and gloomy rather that upbeat and cheery. Another thing I like it the side scrolling bits between switching areas. They're easy and straight forward, but still nice for a breather.
But the lost points are all due to bad camera angles and the frustration involved when they don't do what they should be doing, you can't control them, or you're randomly thrown into a first person view and can't figure out how to get out of it without dying or falling off a platform you just took 10 minutes to get to.
I was real excited for Epic Mickey. Then I played it. It was difficult to paint/erase. I would be right next to the item to be painted and it wouldn't work. Even when the game would say, "Erase this wall." It wouldn't work. I knew what to do in the game but it took multiple appempts to paint/erase. If this would have been more smooth I might have enjoyed it. Overall, I played maybe 2 hours and that was 1 and a half hours too many. Sorry Dinsey.
This game is the least epic game in the history of epic games! The camera stinks because it goes out of control at the worst of times, which makes it harder then it should be.They need to work on this game some more. Like WAY more.
