This game is huge. Like, takes 2-3 hours per level huge, probably more. There are a ton of options for each path and goal. There are helpful dialog cues between guards or civilians. It's really well done in the respect that there was a lot of time put into details.
Some of those details were just annoying. The story was fair but a little flat (although I only played through on Low Chaos, so that may change things a bit). I didn't really care what happened to certain characters. There were also a TON of books around that only had something relevant in them, maybe three or four times, but there were hundreds of books it seems.
I apprecaited some AI cues but there were a couple glitches here and there.
The Blink (teleport) mechanic was cool, but I found myself trying it out all the time to see if it would reach a ledge or area, it was rarely very clear if it would get me where I wanted to go. As for the other super powers, you could go the entire game with Dark Vision (wall hack) on if you wanted to. IMO, I would have left all the other powers out of the game, they didn't really add much.
It took me until after the first level to figure out this is a stealth game. They never really mention that at all. You just have to finish the first mission to find out, Oh, I'm not SUPPOSED to kill everyone I see, got it.
I liked it, but I did NOT like the challenges were only for purchase DLC, even though the game just came out. This makes me think they're just trying to sqeeze more money out of you after you've bought the game even though the content was ready to go Day1. That's not how DLC is supposed to work. It's supposed to be a financial incentive to keep supporting the game after release, not to sell me 90% of the game on the disc then force me to buy the 10% just to complete everything.
If they release a Dishonored 2, I'll rent that as well, even look forward to it.
