There aren't many games out there like this one and this game is awesome. You play Corvo Attano, a bodyguard for an empress who is framed for her murder and the kidnapping of her child and heir to the throne. Upon breaking out of prison who set out on a path of revenge and retribution.
Pros: Choices- This game provides you with choices through out that actually effect the outcome of the game, which is measured through chaos. The more people you call the higher the chaos. You can go through hacking and slashing or sneak through the whole mission the choice is yours. Also their are multiple paths you can take to reach your target. It has hitman type feel to it. It is linear in the way that you have confined areas, but you have so many paths in those areas you don't even notice.
~Length and difficulty- Was a rather long game I got around 15 hours in and it was rather hard even on normal.
~I really enjoyed the atmosphere of this game. It was dark and sinister and fit the revenge theme well.
~Story- Their are lots of collectibles to find, from reading books/notes to listening to audio logs it really helps boost the story.
Cons: Characters- Corvo is a silent protagonist, except when people ask questions. I think it really took away from the character relations in the game. All of the characters are bland. I enjoy games with good dialogue etc and it just wasn't there. I wish they would have built more of a relationship but we Corvo and the Empresses daughter, Emily.
~Graphics- I really don't care about graphics that much and they aren't bad but their are times when textures don't load right. I also had a few instances where corpses glitched out and got stuck in walls which creates a lot of noise, which is bad in this game.
If you are a fan of the Hitman series get this. It is pretty much a first person Hitman but with swords. It's not the best game ever but it's really good. It has a high replay value because of the different ways to play it.
I didn't get many hours into the game, but from what I saw...
Playing with stealth was the only fun way to play, but the game is built for you to run and gun, so why bother? I felt so silly after spending 40 minutes sneaking past two dozen guards only to slip up and be confronted by six at once...gutting them all as if they were nothing. I went on a killing rampage after that waiting to be destroyed for my folly. Nope.
