After hearing Dishonored only had eight levels I was a little skeptical, but Bethesda didn’t disappoint. This game prides itself on how many different ways you can tackle a situation. After being framed for the murder of the queen you are given an assortment of weapons and super powers. You are free to murder enemies and traverse the steam punk landscape guns blazing, or with stealthy and secrete footsteps. The campaign is short and to the point but the replay value here is almost unheard of. If you are a fan of the Deus Ex or Bioshock series you will feel right at home here. My only complaint is that the city is full of detail but is feels small. This may be a semi open world game the sections of the city you are thrown into to complete assassinations seem limited and constraining.

If you are looking for the typical fast pace shoot 'em up, big weapons, deathmatch this game probably won't keep your attention very long. In fact I blew through it in a few hours on hard being a ruthless killing machine. Where the developers really nailed this thing is in the subtleties of stealth, patience and prudent planning. To get the full effect of this game and how really challenging it can be, you don't kill anyone, go unnoticed and steal everything... NOT easy.

The gameplay itself is fluid, very few flaws in movement, sight or combat. The only I found were:
As with most titles you can get yourself stuck in a piece of the environment off the beaten path but the "blink" ability easily gets you out.
Sometimes waiting by a door with windows the view is blocked by your command prompt.
When fighting it's all pretty much the same, no matter if it is the first guard you encounter or a assassination mark. I thought there could have been a little more diversity here but like I said before, it's not about hack and slash. There are pretty cool fatality moves if you want to go that way but the combat system isn't really set up to cater to it.
these are easy to look past if you want to play the game it was intended.

The graphics are the same throughout the game, nothing really eyepopping but nothing bad either... all around decent.

The storyline isn't that great, no real depth to make you REALLY give a dookie about any of the characters. Thought that this was the most lacking part of the game, they really could have made this a 9.5 easy if the player WANTED to see the mark strapped down to a torture chair instead of easily shooting them in the head (thus saving a lot of time and planning).

Big yes to a rent, it's different every time you play (and HOW you play). Dig the main character's mask too, next halloween idea for me.
