Good, but with a few flaws

Personally, I loved Dishonored. The story may be a little bland at points, but it is overall intriguing and can absorb you into the world of Dunwall. Not to mention the plot twists are incredible. I rarely ever saw them coming when I first played through.
On to the gameplay. The overall scheme of the game is great, and puts a huge amount of emphasis on choice. I loved it. I could either run in and kill everyone, stealth my way around the guards and neutralize targets without killing them, or any other combination of methods. Granted, a really large amount of Corvo's powers and equipment are lethal, and some more non-lethall equipment would be appreciated, it still stands out as one of the most diverse titles I've ever played.
As mentioned above, though, the game has flaws. the leaning mechanic that allows you to see around cover can be iffy at times, and tends to make one feel out in the open, causing unneeded movement that could reveal your hiding spot. The cover itself can be a little shoddy too at times, but works alright for the most part.
The chaos system is another thing that tends to throw people off. As you go through the game, the amount of times you kill, whether it's guards or a primary target, contributes to the overall chaos in Dunwall. The higher the chaos, the more guards, plague rats/victims, and the bigger the change in the final part of the story. It sounds great, and it is, but there's no way to keep track of it until you complete a mission. at the end of a mission, a screen will show you the overall stats of your work, including your total chaos level. Now, the level can go down if you kill a lot of people one mission but almost no one the next, but it's very difficult to determine how much is too much for a low chaos ending.
In summary, the game as a whole is fantastic. There are paths in each level for all the playstyles that you can think of, and does a good job of making each one equally enjoyable. I completely recommend playing this.

Fun for a weekend - just not marriage material.

The mechanics are fairly well done and it actually feels gameplay wise more similar to Bioshock thematically and with the combat mechanics (but with a strong stealth bias) than a typical Bethesda game. It's a dark setting that sets up interestingly enough. The plot develops at a decent pace but becomes disjointed like many video game narratives. As such, the endgame plot is problematic for me and was too contrived for my taste.

The campaign is pretty short, but worthwhile for a second play-through depending on how hooked you were by the whole thing. In some ways it's more challenging to play through for the clean hands achievement, though playing clean actually sets up for an easier game if you have the patience for it. I did not and just enjoyed cutting people's heads off. I considered a second play-through, but with so many games to get through I just looked up the two other endings and I don't regret it. I felt like it would be more of a chore to go back through the game a second time, despite the short length - which is a pretty good indicator of the immersion I felt towards game I guess.

This game is actually a great rental and makes me glad to be a Gamefly member, because I'd have regretted purchasing this, but had some fun during the short run-through. It's definitely worth a look if you don't have much backlog and wanted to check it out yourself. That may sound like a tepid recommendation, but it's earnest because I think the majority of people that rent this would be fairly satisfied they did.

Too short on the story

Thought it was a great game but kinda short on the story line plus it could have used a couple boss fights that were more challenging
