This game is definitely not as good as i thought it would be. Great example on why i use gamefly instead of paying the 60$ retail price for this. This is the first game in the Dirt series ive played and man what a surprise. to me a far cry from the best in the Colin McRae series CMR 2005. Apart from the great Graphics, Realism and Gameplay im left lost in translation with the very redundant progression system. with no real way to gain an advantage other then simple tuning options before a race. no upgrades to apply no cars to buy that suit you better. Feels like im just mindlessly going from race to race only gaining a car/truck similar to others available per race just with a different team painted on the side everytime i go up a rep level. Upgrade ability and customization are key selling points in atleast 95% of racing games and yes even rally games look at CMR 2005 for example. idk im a racing game fanboy and love rally games but this one left me bored after only an hour of play. haven't even finished the first season yet and im already sending it back
I normally do not buy or even rent racing game's like these. But since this was a slow month for game releases i decided to give this game a shot.
When i first started playing this game the first thing i noticed was that you needed a vip code to access alot of content if you rented it. Contect such as Multiplayer/youtube/certain cars etc.
But if you can manage to get past that then Dirt turns out to be a good Racing game with good graphics. But that is as far as the good goes. The single player for me was ruined with the drifting part. As i said at the start of this review I do not normally play games like these. So I dont know if it's just my inexperience but iether way the drifting is this game seems to have a really stiff learning curve. The drifting was so difficult in fact i sent this game back the next day. Btw playing this game on it's easiest difficulty did not make the drifting any easyer.
