This game had so much potential but no matter how hard I tried to see that, it kept messing up. Each positive aspect was overshadowed by a negative of the same aspect.

The graphics were nice and dark but they are so bad that it would have been at home among Playstation 1 games. The main character's face was made out of wood and his personality was as exciting as a decaying log. The cat sidekick was okay but how exactly was he writing the notes? His mouth? That takes a huge stretch of the imagination to deem as ok. And what the heck was with the otherdone eyebrows?! They make every character look as if they were wearing eyeliner.

I enjoyed the ability to summon up demons and use their abilities in battle but the AI for them is pathetic. Unless you command them to do otherwise, they just punch the opponents. That would have been better suited to a turn-based combat system.

Using the demons to help you with investigations was a good idea but they allow the player to use them from the get go, making it feel as if there is no reward for getting better demons other than for combat situations.

I did enjoy the negotiations and having your demons help you out but there was an easy way to avoid all fights in an area: get a demon of each type on your side and negotiate with demons of the same type in every other encounter. The battle will be skipped and you get a free item.

this game is a slight disappointment considering it's from the same people that did the persona games. The graphics are cheesy and the gameplay too repeatitve. You play the role of the 13th demon summoner and you work in a detective agency and your mission is to protect the capital from demons. You aquire demons by negotiating with them during combat or by fusing those demons into stronger ones. Those of you that have played the persona games that is gonna sound really familier. Another thing that is going to sound familier is the demons that you aquire have also made themselves known in the persona games as well. Your devil summoner mentor is a black cat named Gouto (kinda sounds like gato). The game was so boring that I couldn't even finish playing and that is a first for me. The game needs a better plot, better graphics, more diverse gameplay, and a bit more origonality to the demon roster. That's why I gave this game a 6 outta 10.

Best Devil summoner yet, still lacks

Yet another go at a devil summoner game for me. Some that are starving for new RPG content may worship these games. I do not. I played this game for quite a while, but found the time period and location to be so foreign it was hard to relate to. The story still isn't bad, but its not my cup-of-tea. Its HIGHLY Japanese, everyone has some 3 or more syllable name that you will instantly forget because of its foreigness. For me, it makes things a little difficult because I can't distinguish who random Asian person named random Asian name is from the next guy, so following the clues can be difficult and I had to make a lot of use of gamefaqs.

However, devil collection and fusion is fun and similar to the Persona series. This game has, however brutal difficulty spikes. The graphics tend to be slightly better than the persona series, but the story and gameplay failed to draw me in. Battle is another elemental mashup where you are constantly switching in and out your devil companions and or weapon to effectively damage your enemies. I eventually quit playing because of my constant dependency of online help to find out where I needed to go next or what I needed to do became draining to always have one eye on gamefaqs and one on this game. A better journal and or quest helper could have helped this game be more enjoyable. Your journal is a little helpful but mostly very vague and does not update enough. For instance lets say a quest you are trying to complete has 3 concise parts. Your journal will typically only reflect the first step of what you need to do, you will generally have to figure out the rest and this can be time consuming or even nearly impossible without online help.

Even so it was mostly enjoyable for the first 30 or 40 hours, but after that I couldn't bring myself to play any more.
