I always heard how good Devil May Cry is so I was excited to play this game. I didn't care for what I seen but I liked it just enough to play the DmC series reboot when it comes out. Starting from the beginning may be the best thing I can do since it felt like the story should have had way more of an impact than it did.
Game play:
The standard hack n slash. It reminds me a lot of Dante's Inferno or God of War. The combat was fun for a while but I felt like I was using the same attacks over and over. Eventually you unlock new abilities, but you could beat most enemies just by hacking and shooting away at them. The game play is definitely passable, I've just played better hack n slash games in the past.
Graphics:
This definitely doesn't push the PS3 to its limits, even for an older PS3 game.
Story:
This isn't the game's fault, but I have never played Devil May Cry 1, 2 or 3 so I had no connection to the established characters. The story played out like an anime series and the script even sounds like it came from an episode of Bleach. This is not a bad thing in any way, but it definitely makes the game more niche. There were some epic fights in the cut scenes that make me wish the game play could be like those.
