After the disappointing DMC 2, Capcom has brought the series back with a very impressive prequel in DMC 3 full of amazing looking environments, lots of hidden things to find, and a good/evil brother storyline. I'll admit it, I did not even finish DMC 2 I was so disappointed with it, so when I heard this one would be done by the people who made the original I was very happy to see that the franchise was not going to die a sad death. DMC 3 has several different weapons to choose from, each with a variety of moves to utilize, and utilize them you must for it is very hard to get a good way through DMC 3 without mastering at least a weapon or two of each type (sword and gun) because the difficulty is fairly high for an action game. The one thing that worries people the most in these types of action games is how well does the character control and let me say that the control in this game is absolutly perfect. It is a cinch to double jump, glide, shoot into small spaces and jump on small blocks with Dante, making the game very easy to like. The story is very evenly presented to us in that there is a small cutscene before every level and a longer on at the end of each of the game's 20 levels (plus 11 bonus missions to find). The amount of boss characters in the game is staggering as well, with one for most levels (discounting the first two levels which are used to introduce the controls on smaller enemies). And each boss fight is very different, with different tactics to use on them and different weapons needed to take full advantage of their weakness. The class system of the game adds a new dimension to gameplay, but I think it could have been used a bit better. You get four classes to choose from at first and if say you choose the swordmaster class, it adds and extra two attacks to each weapon. It's a great idea and I just hope they bring it back for DMC 4 with maybe a bit better implementation. Overall, DMC is back on top of the gaming world.
