I'd been told this game was bad. Apparently the person telling me this was not a fan of the Forgotten Realms.
For anyone that has ever stepped into the world of Faerun through paper or PC, this game is very much worth the playtime.
It took me about ten hours to beat, straight-through. I didn't put the controller down. The game is not the greatest game to ever be created, but anyone that's a fan of the Forgotten Realms will love and appreciate it.
The gameplay: Typical hack and slash with a decent bit of strategy thrown in. As you progress you gain gold and experience which allows you to upgrade your equipment and attacks.
The story: Three outcasts are brought together through the machinations of an extra-planar being the Khelben Arunsun himself imprisoned 100 years ago. They work to destroy this being before he destroys Faerun. Through the course of the adventure you get to meet Khelben Arunsun, Drizzt and a few of Drizzt's companions, and even play as Drizzt for about half an hour.
I never got bored, I loved the story and had fun overcoming the challenge of the gameplay. Even though it was slightly repetitive, you -do- have to think about your actions if you want to live for more than twenty minutes.
Extras: Nice amount of unlockables that shed light into the character's personal lives and backgrounds, as well as concept art for each chapter.
Finishing comments: As I've mentioned, if you are a fan of Faerun or R.A. Salvatore, you'll love this game; no question. As well, it's worth playing even if you've never even heard of either.
