This game is fantastic.
It isn't truly hard, it's just that you have to have a brain and think outside of the "I can kill everything in 2 hits" box.
Those who dislike this game are gamers that have grown up in the "Call of Duty" games and all the other extremely easy games to play. You can't enter this game and just expect it to play itself. You have to study the enemies attacks and learn from you failures. You can tell that the developers are those who like to keep their games in OLD SCHOOL MODE where it takes skill to succeed. If you grew up playing games that literally played themselves such as "Call of Duty" and other bland and boring games this isn't for you.

This game was so hard it inspired fear in me at every turn. I will be honest, I used a walkthrough after it took me 6 hours to complete the first level. There is a lot to be learned about it and I found myself looking up items, boss tactics, and general game info while I wasn't playing it.

I almost didn't want to send it back because the replay value is outstanding, but I have other games to play :op. My only regret is that the dude who holds the key to the king's room bugged out before I killed him as a red demon, so I wasn't able to get his armor.

The only way to play this game is in the PS network. The PVP is great; I love how they incorporated it in to the story.

The gameplay is great aside from the fact that you can't jump. I found it very liberating that you could wield literally any weapon in the game as long as you had the stats for it. The controls were great and the combat was intense but fun.

I found the story to be okay. In a game like this you are kind of expected to forge your own adventures (aka killing dragons for loot) so I didn't rate it lower because of it. It fit in nicely with the game play and that's all I could ask for.

Overall it's a great game if you want a challenge, but it will be hard for you if you do not do research on it. I was frustrated almost constantly until I figured out the best way to level my character. I would recommend this game to anyone.

First of all, look at the most HELPFUL comments. Ignore the brainless morons who can't do anything but mash buttons.

If you are unsure whether you want to buy this game, believe me, it deserves much more than a 7.2. It is difficult at first, but once you learn how to fight each enemy (yup, there's a different strategy for every single foe you encounter) you will not want to put this game down even if you just died.

When you die, you lose all your Souls (money/experience) and a bloodstain is left exactly 10 seconds where you were before you died. If you can go through the level again (the monsters will have respawned, so you need to be careful) and touch your bloodstain, you get all your souls back. It feels really rewarding.

But that is not all. The enemies will become harder to kill, and you will be in soul form until you defeat a boss or use a certain rare item. When in soul form, your max HP is halved and you deal more damage. You can, however get a really good ring that increases your health in soul form by about 25% early on.

When you get to the boss of any level, it feels intense because:
1. There's no music in this game except for boss fights
2. If you get killed now, you have to do the whole level again
3. Exactly 0 of the bosses are straightforward hack-and-slash
4. If you kill the boss, you get a ton of souls, your HP rises to its max again, and you can trade the boss's soul for really cool weapons or magic.

You can't pause the game offline or not, and the game uses a constant autosave feature. With it, as soon as you kill a boss, it instantly saves. As soon as you kill yourself? SAVED

Do you see what I'm getting at here? This game is not torturingly hard, but it is still intense because of what's at stake if you die. Trust me, there are no cheap deaths in this game and you can't blame the controls because they're really responsive, and they need to be for a game like this. When you die, it's not because the game is hard, it's YOUR fault.
