One of the best games i've ever played.......

When i first popped Demon's Souls into my Playstation I was a little confused why my friend though it was so fun. It took me about 6 hours before I encountered the dragon on the bridge. I died and rage quit for a whole week. Then I sought advice from my friend who made it to the final boss (on chapter 2). He told me a few things while we played Payday and that pretty much jumpstarted the next month of my life. Once I beat the game, I made it to the maneater bossfight which sadly made me want to sell it. This game made me feel like a kid, when i first beat spiderman on the PS1, not starstruck by the fact I was playing as spiderman of course but just amazed how much I can improve through trial and error. I definately suggest this game to someone who's tired of your typical run'n gun games or RPGs that aren't really fresh or doesn't mind difficulty. Even though I sold it, i've always got Gamefly to help. :)

Great game. Thoroughly enjoyed it. At first I lost a bit of interest and was pretty annoyed by certain limitations. Mainly the inventory weight. But, after I got around that, it was a great game through and through. Nice and difficult.

It's no surprise that all the reviews are hit or miss - this is a game you will either love or hate. If you love it, it will be because it's unique, challenging, and occasionally heartbreaking in its relentless determination to kill you, and then kill you again, and then kill you again, every time hitting you with something that you weren't expecting. If you hate it, it will be for all of those same reasons. This is a game for players who don't mind devoting a lot of time to figuring out an almost esoteric gameplay mechanism. You invest a lot in learning this game, or you don't succeed at it. Every weapon, spell, and armor behaves differently - a fencer with a rapier fights in a completely different way than a warrior swinging a sword. You have to find the playstyle you like and then really devote yourself to it. You have to be prepared to wander into an encounter swearing at the TV and insisting that it isn't possible to win... and then you have to win anyway. You have to be willing to replay the same level repeatedly (monsters respawn every single time you die), and you can't rush through no matter how impatient you get, because death means you lose everything you've been fighting for. You have to learn something from every mistake you make, and do it right the next time. If that doesn't sound fun to you, don't bother with this game, because it really is merciless toward casual play. But if all of that appeals to some part of you hungry for a challenge, this is your game.
