the graphics are kinda out dated, the game play is simple to pickup, the story doesnt get explained well. the game has a good idea like borderlands with way more people but again... its like borderlands 1 with worse graphics ;/
Rented it and within the first day I was wanting to buy it and the Season Pass. So I kept it on Gamefly for $45, saved me $15 from buying it anywhere else. The game is just so deep and if your going to want to master it your going to have to put a lot of time into it.
The graphics aren't spectuacular but they are still good enough, the colors and everything blend nicely on my television and everything is pretty crisp. No eye popping graphics though.
This games all about 3rd person shooting and leveling up and getting lost in a world that will hopefully keep providing you with content via the Weekly Updates, Season Pass, and of course the Television Show which is apparently doing real good and got renewed for a 2nd season.
This game is perfect for someone who likes sci-fi type shooters and wants to try something new in an open world game with hundrends and thousands of players playing through the game right by your side pretty much.
Since the game was first launched to now I have increased my grade from a 7 to a 9 simply because of their amazing support towards this game. So many bugs and glitches have been ironed out and it's noticeable to those who played early. Runs much smoother now.
You can report bugs and send comments to them via the Main Menu. Something also fairly new to console gaming. You can even open up support tickets. Defiantly succedding at trying to be involved and adapting with their community. A little more in game content would be nice though as the show episodes go by.
When you compare this to the other free MMO, play-for-free on playstation(Dust514 or Free Realms) or PC... This one isn't no winner to any achievement.
If you love gamer interaction with others and like to be more social then competitive orientated, you probably will enjoy the game.
In Defiance you create your own character and mesh into the online population of the internet.... Lots of patch downloading required at first.
You are an Ark Hunter on a Terraformed Earth. An alien species comes to Earth... Not all of the aliens are hostile though... Even though the imperial minded side of the aliens has ravished the Earth... You still find one or two good aliens that will aid you.
You search for arks... Meteorites that constantly fall to earth with rare materia... You harvest that rare material and sale it for other treasures.
If you are thinking the game sorta sounds like Borderlands... You are right... However, the map is far larger and not as many loading screens, unless you play the deathmatches and other shooter gameplay elements. Also the game is still on Earth, not an alien planet.
Its not a bad game.
It has a lot to offer but, is pretty story lacking and some of the visuals... SHOULD HAVE been tweaked. Not all of the visuals is bad though. Some parts are very nice and well detailed... Other parts of the game world look like it was made by Dr Seuss--All round and odd shapped terrain that seemed to be thrown together. The science-fact, geography aspects to how land formations is created is vacant. Very Unrealistic terrain.
I like detail... I like seeing things and seeing all the tedious details perfect.. It shows that the artists put a lot of effort into the game. You may not care about that detail and able to look past it.
In all its an OK game with a few major flaws, but it plays?? If you love online multiplayer co-op, social interaction... You may love the game... If not you will just see all the flaws.
