This was a PSP title I though would turn out great. It is nothing more than a disappointment. Yeah it's cute, sometimes funny, and pretty good looking too. BUT! The controls are horrible, and make it nearly impossible to play without getting angry. I'd get into the story of how you play a youthful Death, trying to save his bizarre friends, setting off on predictable jump, and dodge, hack and slash plat former. But it just doesn't matter, the cute story and bad controls, lame duck tired platform design makes it pointless. It doesn't work.
GAMPLAY: The gamplay in Death Jr. is ok to say the least. There arent many moves to get with his schythe but there are some cool guns to get and at least your pistols never run out of ammo. Its cool to get to swing across gaps with your blade through a loop and whatnot like that though. STORY: The story in DJr. is probably the worst story ive ever had to live through. There are ONLY 2 cutscenes in the WHOLE game that give ANY clue as to whats going on,... even though u wont care because the story is lame anyway! GRAPHICS $ DESIGN: The graphics in DJr. arent the best but they are ok. Most of everything looks really blocky and really resembles a PS1 game to tell the truth. Another thing i didnt like about DJr. is that ALL the environments are dark and they look really bland and discolored. It would have been better if the environments where colored a darker hue.. but thats not the case. All the environments have a dark theme.. but they dont look it and it makes u feel kinda mopey and depressed... which may have been what the developers was trying to get at.. but id have to say that i really didnt like it. Also, the enemies all pretty much look the same. Id have to say that there are probably only 7-10 different enemies in the WHOLE game... which is not including the bosses. That may sound like alot but most of the time it gets REALLY repetetive because it seems that most of tehe time your only firing your pistols. OVERALL: Not too fun, horrible story and a bad taste in design for environments... even if it is suposed to be heck! RATING:5/10
