DS3 does not come anywhere close to it's predecessors. The game has shied away from attempting to frighten you with atmosphere and brutal sudden attacks. Instead it relies on a system of flooding you with overwhelming numbers and enemies that are too resistant to damage.
On the subject of the AI, don't worry about not being able to run away... if you progress past a trigger point and get overwhelmed, all you have to do is run away. The poorly programmed AI won't chase you but will rather retreat itself and wait for you to find it.
I will say that the game looks amazing and some of the new gameplay mechanics are to die for. If you are a die hard Dead Space fan and love the story, give it a chance; however, if you play for the gameplay than this game is not for you. Visceral turned this into an arcade shooter and ruined Dead Space.
this is a real good game, if you've ever heard the phrase survival is the mother of invention, this game defines what it means. if you like to build and you like action & guns this is the game 4 u. unless you're nerves aren't made of steel, and your not a veteran survival, shooter and horror gamer.

I am a fan of the first 2 Dead Space games and was hoping for another hit. This game didnt have many scares like the others, it was more action. It reminded me of how the Resident Evil games changed over to action games.
Graphics are nice and overall its not a bad game. The thing that bothered me the most was all the back and forth missions. A lot of retracing your steps that got boring.
