I'll start by saying I like zombies. Not in the sense that I hang out with them but that I like zombie-themed entertainment experiences. Which is why I was kind of disappointed that I didn't like this game more.
First, the game looks pretty good. It is an impressive sight the first time you cross into a new area and find it littered with hundreds of the walking dead.
If you've played any of the previous Dead Rising entries you will be instantly familiar with the gameplay. There's a lot of traversing from one side of the map to the other to find various characters or items while killing undead mobs along your way. While driving through a herd of zombies on a steamroller is as fun as it sounds, the novelty wears off pretty quickly. You can avoid a lot of the back and forth by just sticking to the main missions but then you will miss out on the cool upgrades.
If you are a fan of the Dead Rising series, you should definitely play this. For me, the game got to be very repetitive and I quickly grew tired of being everyone's zombie apocalypse errand boy. But it's worth a rent for a quick playthrough and to see the outrageous number of zombies they are able to fit on one screen.
Simply put I was done with the game after 20 minutes. The controls are clunky as well as the camera. I tried once more to enjoy it and i couldn't. Pretty pedestrian zombie game. Dead Island was much more fun
