This game is amazing! It has a God of War like combat/weapon obtainment scheme, with Zelda like dungeons, where you must go through a series of rooms solving riddles, killing waves of enemies, then finally a boss! Although it has its similarities to other games, it doesn't feel like a knock off of them, but is like a completely unique game. It has a great story line (although the characters sometimes lack personality) that makes you want to learn more and finish the game all the way through. And if you still want more, it has a bunch of hidden chests scattered around the world for you to aquire!
The Fighting scheme is solid with a good variety of combos/spells to use. Some enemies though require quite alot of stratagy to kill which some people may find irritating but i thought it was a good addition.
As for the people who are complaining about this games puzzles being to hard, I thought they were set up great, the longest it took me to solve one of them was only about 15minutes.
In my opinion Darksiders will probably be one of my favorite games of 2010 maybe even one of my top 10 favorite games.
I rented Darksiders not really knowing what to expect. It was to serve as a time-filler before Mass Effect 2 arrived. I have had so much fun playing this game, and I still have a few bosses to kill and weapons to use. To put it in perspective, I have been waiting a long time to play ME2, and when it arrives tomorrow, I won't begin playing it until I'm finished with this game.
It has been talked about extensively, but I want to mention it, too; please don't play this game for an hour or so and say that it is just not for you. After an hour, I would've said the same thing.
People have been saying this game is God of War + Zelda, but I wouldn't know since I haven't played either. It reminds me of the old Prince of Persia games on Playstation. My roomate, as he watched me climbing a wall to find my way through an area, said the same thing.
I have had some problems with the game glitching/freezing up, but this hasn't been that big of a deal. Once I had to kill myself because the appropriate cutscene did not trigger ; so I killed myself, did it again, and the appropriate scene triggered.
If you enjoy games enough to have a Gamefly account, you should definitely rent this game. I'm leaning towards buying it and getting all the achievements. Give this game a change, unless you are worried about wanting to spend money on another game....
i like this game.. actually keeps me in the zone...alot of action...puzzle moving...mazes...also has parts where you kind of get aggravated(at first got me aggravated because i didnt really use weapons correctly)...i was stuck at a few spots for hours so i would call those dull moments...but besides that..this game is a 10...a bit cartoony....the cut scenes are funny...characters are awesome...best part of the game are the characters they throw at you...the knowledge you get from them...and missions you have to do in order to get towards other places...good thing about the missions is you dont have to go a million miles to get to the other spot and no back and forths like other games...this game here and bayonetta are very solid concrete adventure games...xbox 360 needed adventure games..this one is definitely a good one...i rate it 8 out of 10...because im dumb and certain missions need to dumbed down...
