An entertaining sequel

Combination of Zelda/Metroid-esque exploration, Prince of Persia platforming, and God of War fighting, and it all works well. If you've ever wanted Zelda-type of games with a HD shine, then this series is pretty much it.
There's a lot hidden areas and mini-dungeons to keep you busy. The early dungeons are too easy, and it's only in the later ones that you get the real mind-bending puzzles like in the best Zelda games. There you use portals, time travel, splitting your character into two. Nothing too difficult, but you may run to a walkthrough once or twice. The boss fights are fun, but nothing mindblowing.
The game's quite lengthy at about 30 hours, more if you do all the sidequests and collectibles. The game is good-looking, but cartoony. Most of the characters are fat-headed and gigantic like in Gears of War, and some people may not like this art style.
The camera can be problematic while fighting multiple enemies, but it's not a huge problem. Switching between powers can be a chore. I would have preferred to be able to set powers to the d-pad instead.
The story is dullsville. Seriously, get a book, phone, laptop etc ready for the cutscenes. They aren't long, but boy are they a buzz-kill. I didn't care about the story and characters, and they drone on and on. Luckily the gameplay more than makes up for it.
I was put off that much of the DLC content is only for people who purchase the game new. It's similar to how Rocksteady restricted the Catwoman segments to new copies in Batman: Arkham City. The game is long enough without it, but this practice of leaving out content is shady.
I once wondered if I could upgrade my horse's running speed, but I never saw a chance in-game. Then I looked up on the PSN Store and there was a "Deadly Despair" pack for doing just that. What a rip-off.
I still enjoyed DS1 more than this, but this is a perfectly acceptable sequel. Looking forward to a third.
