Ok, The Darkness has a great concept with a chilling storyline and a nice variety of ways of which to smite your enemies. The darkness powers are a lot of fun once you get into the game. Right now that thats over with lets talk about the downfalls.
The Darkness really has only one problem that drags down its score, it has no sense of direction. Sure its gritty and realistic to look for subway maps and find your way around the city on clues and small tid-bits of info alone, but its not fun. Between trying to decipher where to go next from what little info they give you and attempting to master the maze that is the subway, this game left me wanting more.
At some point in the game I really lost all interest in it, and I found myself just playing it to get the stupid story over with. Sure their gonna be people who get lucky and get to every place right when your supposed to, but to the majority who beat it we use walkthroughs to find our way thru this labyrinth of a game. Really, just a mini map or an objectives arrow would've helped it tremendously. I really wanted this game to succeed, but it only came out sub-par.

Broken down into the pieces of game play I rate...
-Visuals- 7/10 - They're good for a game but seeing it on the 360 compared to some of the other games due out and currently out seems to be lacking. Character models don't really sink up with the voices. Bringing us to...
-Sound- 7/10 - Good sounds overall but felt it was lacking at times. Character voices drone off into the background sounds. Though the characters themselves seem to match the visual of the character. But they like to repeat statements a few times in conversations.
-Gameplay- 7/10 - The darkness is overpowered in compared to the A.I. you face. Really if you stay covered and hide in dark surroundings most wont be a problem. The auto aim throws your shots off unless you decide to zoom in. Overall the game is good but i feel it was more of a welcome addition to a background on the comic book rather than a memorable game. Thankfully you can always rent it.

The game itself seems to be a game where only death exists, although this may be true, an extrodinary storyline lies behind the game. Where Darkness exists there is a Light, the phrase used in the game truly does shine throughout the game, as the main character Jackie, loses his only reason for living, Jenny, Jackie literally goes to heck and back eager to seek revenge for himself, against his evil uncle Paulie, and avenge the death of Jenny. Throughout the whole game there is a deep storyline with plenty of backround for the main charcters. Also with the loading screen replaced by cutscences you get to learn multiple stories from Jackie's perspective. The game leaves us hanging, wanting more, also the game has left me feeling sorrow for the characters in the game. Drama exists in the game, a lot, and everything surrounds Jackie, as he can help the people of New York in multiple side-quests. The game begins as one of the worst possible scenarios occur, and then goes through multiple twists, and then ends with what can be called one of the most spectacular, hooking endings I've witnessed. And I can assure you that I have no life and have seen MANY awful endings to games, Also the company 2K has carved itself into an dominating company in the field of gaming of all genres. The game also has a good source of easy to gain and fun to achieve achievment points, which I found great. :) Every company that participated in the creation of this game recieves my highest honors and eagerness for future games. (although my opinion shouldnt count for the big companies) ;o
