the overall idea of the game is better then the game play and the one thing i really didnt like is u can upgrade your weapons which is good but the last like 4 levels u dont really get a good chance at all to use all your hard earned upgrades so there really wasnt a point to it but the story line was good and it was a good concept i enjoyed it but dont get me wrong if your lookin for a game to really stick out this is not it
It takes around 2 hours just to get to the jet pack, and even once you do get it it still doesn't make the game fun. I found myself just flying past most parts that they wanted you to do the vertical leaping type thing. I figured why fight through all these enemies when I can just fly past them. The game wasn't the worst ever made but this is the only 360 title that I was so bored I couldn't complete it.
A little tricky, and can definitely be disorienting, but after you acclimate ( I loved it out of the gate ) it offers gameplay that can't be found outside the armored core and robotech games. Okay, maybe a little Star Wars: Bounty Hunter.
The vertical climbing/fighting aspect is great, as well. Especially how everything ( hover/flight/platforming/shooting ) all rolls at the same time ( depending on if you can handle it ). Flying up to a ledge then firing down from "cover". Freefalling into a jet dive, then hovering at the last second and swooping in for a melee kill.
The graphics are by no means BAD, but not on par with the biggest AAA titles. I certainly found my share of beautiful, immersive moments so far. The controls take a few minutes to get used to and are set at default to very sensitive. Weapons are limited, but can be upgraded ( though there's not much to that, either ). Apparently it's short ( I'm not done yet. ), but so far, it's been a great ride.
I think a lot of halokids will be turned off by the gameplay that is difficult and disorienting. The lack of graphical pop ( they are certainly adequate ) won't help. Add in a fairly predictable storyline and archetypal ( I propose that Mr. Uncharted was a rip of the hero from Crimson skies, who was a rip of Indiana Jones! ) characters, and a lot of haters will fling excrement.
I, for one, disagree... Well, so far. =P
Seriously tho, if you like flyers, check this out ( assuming you don't ONLY play flight sims ). While I can't disagree with some of the criticism out there, it appears to me that it is just too difficult for some people to wrap their heads around the gameplay.
