this game has everything it needs to be great. from the architecture of the level to the weapon and spell hierarchy. i found myself getting absorbed again and again by it. the problem is that they try to hard to keep it so frustrating and difficult to play. i put in 70 hours of game play and after losing the chance to get my higher level spells for my priest i just stopped playing 3/4 of the way through. looking back i should have never given this a chance. it is praised for being so hard but how ? not puting in save points so when you die you have to still go through the same monotonous thing over and over again? thats not hard that overly frustrating. im not sure why they chose to go down this route after making the kings fields series since this could be fantastic.
I rented Dark Souls after reading some great reviews. However, I just couldn't play it for long. The graphics, for some reason, looked like something from my PS One. Truly awful. The cutscenes were very pretty but the gameplay itself suffered from 32 bit graphics - or so it appeared.
I checked the options and there didn't seem to be anywhere to increase the graphics. So, I put it back in the envelope.
