ALMOST got me hooked

This game ALMOST got me hooked; I see how it works, you get addicted. “I’m not going to let this game beat me!” But then I realized I wasn’t enjoying myself. That the game, while difficult, just wasn’t any good. I turned if off and sent it back.

Bad Game

This game would have been great if not for the EXP/money system. Both Money and EXP are the same thing and if you die you drop it on the spot are transported back to the last save point. If you die before gathering it again its lost forever. This horrible system makes it too difficult to improve your character or buy inventory, after about 3 hours of play I hadn't advanced at all. The more you play the more you become frustrated with the system. Other than that it seems to be a great game, great graphics, great story... etc but the EXP/Money system is easily a deal breaker, and it killed the game completely for me.

This game has awesome graphics, cool environments, monsters, etc... obviously someone put a lot of time and effort into this game. Too bad it is virtually unplayable. There is no story (or map) to give you any idea what your doing or where you are supposed to go. The voice actors all sound like they're all on Quaaludes or something and you are forced to speak to them over and over to finally find out whether or not they have something they can do for you. You'll find lots of fascinating items with no explanation what they are for. The menu doesn't pause the game but it does disable all of your combat controls. Used items are lost when you die and re-spawn. Each time you "rest by the bonfire" to heal yourself all of the non-boss monsters re-spawn as well. You stop everything you are doing and take 3 seconds just to down a healing flask in the middle of battle. Dodging doesn't prevent you from being hit. Your character moves ridiculously slow even pausing between actions to allow you to continue to be damaged. Despite hours in the same area leveling up every creature you are up against is faster, stronger and has more health than you do with some of them being seemingly invincible. You cannot aim your maddeningly slow to reload projectile weapons which also don't have range enough to shoot anything that can't walk up and swat you dead. Apparently there is a whole thing with you being hallow or not that allows you to summon spirit allies or something (I've put 12 hours into the game and nothing has come close to explaining what that is all about yet). Save points were a joke, it just lets you re-spawn somewhere else in the same level with all of the guys you killed brought back to life. I am an old school D&D geek who loves RPGs I want to love this game so much, but if I continue to play it I fear I will lose my sanity as a result of the constant repetitive frustration I have experienced ever since I made the mistake of putting this cursed game into my Playstation.
