After spending hours in what I would consider the "tutorial area," I finally get to enter the world that is Dark Souls. It was only then that I understood why this game got so many high marks from so many trusted gaming reviewers. The leveling system is simple yet complex, and the combat is put together very well. The atmosphere is stunning, ranging from claustrophobic dungeons to standing in the middle of what seems like a castle for giants. Even 45+ hours in, I feel like there's so much I haven't even seen yet. And the best part of that is, that I'm right. Just a quick note: this is definitely NOT a game for the average/casual gamer. Those going into it need to know that dying will be something you need to get used to(and fast), and the difficulty level is by far the most unforgiving I've played in a video game to date. But if you are willing to give up some of your sanity to get into this game, I can honestly say you will not be disappointed. Not even close.
To all of the whiners on these reviews, you do not deserve to be called a gamer.
This game is perfect in every way, shape and form.
The combat is good. The graphics are amazing. The boss fights are epic, and normally require two or more players to defeat them.
I haven't finished the game yet, but that'll change in a week or two.
I've solo'd most of the bosses until I got to the gargoyles. I'm a very patient gamer. I love how they make you figure stuff out, and learn from your mistakes. It makes your victories that much more rewarding. Although i've probably died today alone around 50-60 times, it's still a great experience.
I'm thinking about buying this game. I may just keep it.
Also, if you don't like a challenge, if you just like to rush through games with no sort of resistance, then this game is not for you. Go back to playing Call of Duty or something.
As for me, I'm going to beat this game. So I can boost about it later to other fellow gamers.
