I rented this game based on great reviews and a love for complex, diffucult and deeply thought out games. I was dissapointed in every way. the game is slow to start, the mechanics are clunky with a combat system and styling of 1st gen rpgs out of japan. they still use text boxes and characters mouths dont move. the graphics were dated in every way possible. the targeting system is weak and the 3 menus used in gameplay are not fluid at all and often difficult to navigate or make sense of for anyone who hasnt purchased the game guide with this title. there is litterally a menu solely for dictating your character to point up or down, wave, signal or celebrate. very japanese in its game construction. grueling slow pace and dated game mechanics and graphics make this a game that wont appeal to most people. Only the occasional dungeons and dragons fan boys will enjoy this painfully tedious gameplay. Dont be fooled by the gamer boy battle crys of "you dont understand it or you suck noobs and thats why you hate it". they mistake their ability to stand this garbage fest as a medal of honor to their gaming fortitude. I think its more of a brotherhood of outcasts who drool at the concept of being the only ones with enough time or desire to be different as to finish this playthough. like a band of very geeky virgins bent on a hate of all society.
when it gets down to the nitty gritty. this is a dated game with poor mechanics and a flurry of over complicated option menus. this is not a flowing, fluid or beautiful game in any sense. if you like action packed titles with rich stories, cutting edge graphics engines and real life play appeal. then this is a skip.
