I've been told that Darkcloud games are a lot like Zelda, but I don't actually play Zelda (gasp) so I cannot personally draw comparisons. The dungeons in this game can be a bit of a grind, but this is something you expect when approaching an RPG. The game is very simple and pretty easy and the characters can be a little silly but I think it makes the game unique and lovable. I have played and replayed this game many times over. Building up weapons is a lot of fun, though it can be tedious if you dislike a character in your party. In the game, you rebuild towns by retrieving pieces of the town from local dungeons. In order to complete the town you not only need all of the pieces, but you also need to satisfy the townspeople by fulfilling their requests. The battle system is very very simple (this would normally annoy me) but the other elements of the game more than make up for it. I believe that this is the first RPG I ever beat. I still love Darkcloud and return to it from time to time.
