I bought this game the first day it cameout. I finished it in two days. The game play was nice. I got 80% of my trophys, but it is impossible to retrive many others. I keep trying different things, but nothing seems to work. I really get discourage when you play a nice game but some of the items are impossible to get to. I do recommend this game, but be prepared for a challenge.
I waited over a year for this game to come out and after finishing it i can say it was ok, not great but ok. I watched the blu-ray cartoon separately a couple days ago which helped me comprehend the story. The game itself has the story all over the place. So much that i don't think i would have liked it as much had i not seen the animated movie. My main problem with this game is that the cutscenes are mixed between old-school cartoon playouts and CGI. The graphics cutscenes look better than any i've seen on ps3. There should have been more like this instead of japanamation style scenes. The look of the gameplay is alright. Not as scary as i expected, being that Dante is descending into H E L L. The gameplay controls and strategies are easy enough combining attacks and magic. The hardest thing about this game are parts where getting form A to B are tough. Just jumping and double jumping around corners can take a long time, all to get a little health or magic replenish. I like the religious theme and though i wanted more story and more loyalty to the Divine Comedy, Dante's Inferno is a good enough game to rent. I finished it on easy mode in four days playing a couple hours a day. IT'S A GOOD IDEA TO RENT DANTE'S INFERNO DVD/BLURAY BEFORE YOU PLAY THIS GAME IF YOU DON'T MIND SPOILERS FOR THE STORY.
It's a lot like "God of War". That's because they hired the level designer of "God of War". They said "he's one of the best in the industry", and their goal was to beat "God of War" in that genre. (I wounder if having the God of War level designer had somthing to do with Sony getting the Divine Edition and not xbox, since God of War is a Sony exclusive.) It's definitely a hack & slash, action-adventure game. And there is a playable demo on PS3 & 360, downloadable content too.
I'm looking forward to their "Dead Space 2", said to be 2011.
