this is the newest DDR to date (9/14/06) but not the best. DDR extreme 1 was better. but this one is good to. the start out songs aren't really great but as time goes on the unlockable songs are good. the original menu is back to. with the song wheel on the right and the difficulty "orb" on the bottom left. i like the setup, its very easy to use and figure out. overall this is a very fun and involved game. worth a rent easily.

Internet proves to be more difficult than worth it

Ok, so as with all DDR games i was happy to have this game when it first came out and all, especially since it was supposed to go online. The only problems that I could really find with this game were the fact of how hard mission mode is. Some of the things you CAN NOT do unless you have actually memorized a song or you get lucky. With as much as I unlocked I was able to find out that there are at least 5 sections of mission mode with the smallest ones being the first and fifth. As you enter each different area the difficulty of what mode you play on and what you have to do in order to pass becomes more difficult. So any pro might get a little bored with it until at least the third section witch is when it switches over to standard/easy heavy modes with some interesting things to do. The other problem was the actual online play. Now the idea was great but the functionality wasn't so great. You could go online but you couldn't choose your opponent or the song you would play. Other than that it was good since say if you weren't/arn't the best player out there you could go online and practice on songs you didn't have yet and they also held competitions I believe weekly and there were two types: a version based on score and a 'how long can you survive' version. Lets all hope that in Supernova they expand on the whole internet thing.

Fun little extras in the game include a demo of Karaoke Revolution which since its a demo only has 2 songs, I'm not too sure on how it works but it seems hitting the arrows is more difficult than normal. Other extras include the ability to have alternate looking arrows and alternate costumes for the characters. There are also other modes in the game including combo challenge, nonstop, challenge, and one other which escapes me at the moment.

So overall, good game but could definitely use some improvements.

America fell in love with DDR: Yet Another One

America fell in love with the Japanese arcade sensation Dance Dance Revolution, and though this is not the first home consol version of the game it is probably the best yet! The game is played with a dance pad (a mat with up, down, right, and left arrows along with the X and circle buttons), or two, that plugs into your regular controller ports. You ‘dance’ to various tunes while plugging the right arrow configuration as they flash up the screen. The game features a wide selection of, yes, somewhat corny, songs with the ability to unlock even more.

It can really work up a sweat! America the fattest country in the world because of video games; ha, not anymore thanks to Dance Dance Revolution, people will just have to find some other excuse for our society. If you’re looking for a fun way of getting that 90 minute a week aerobic workout, look no further. The game even features a great workout mode that tracks your progress and allows for you to set up goals. Also, the game is great for parties with the multiplayer mode you can challenge others with your mad dance skills. This game is a definite buy, then even rent the other versions to play with your new dance pad!

All in all I give it…

Graphics: 4/5
Sound: 5/5
Interface: 3/5
Entertainment: 4/5
Replayability: 5/5
Overall: 8.4/10
