Horrible

Good gameplay does not save this game.

Well the only good thing about this game is the gameplay and even then it is a watered down version of Devil May Cry 4. We are in a day and age where we really cannot get away with having a good action game without having interesting characters and a decent story; this is where this game falls completely flat.

Let's look at Dante, the former Merc with the Mouth now turned into "F YOU" Man is going around stopping a huge corrupt government run by demons. Old Dante was cocky and confident but was also likeable; however this Dante feels like he is trying way too hard to be hardcore. He's is like that guy who says he is super cool but in fact is just really annoying and you want him to shut his mouth. However despite how bad Dante is there is someone they messed up even worse.

Vergil: How in the heck could Ninja Theory take a man of honor and power and would not harm anyone unless he was provoked first into a piece of garbage that would shoot someone who is pregnant and smile about it? He also likes to flaunt his superiority over humans like it is some sort of pissing contest. Old Vergil knew he was better and had nothing to prove, he just wanted more power.

The story itself is goes on and off from decent to outright terrible. The dialogue is boring and it feels like they tried to make Dante too "hardcore". It reminds me of Shadow The Hedgehog for the Xbox/PS2/Gamecube where Shadow cursed every 5 seconds.

Ninja Theory has proven time and again that they are inept in handling any game franchise. They should pack it in.

Very Good

Reboot done right!

Here is my review of DMC: Devil May Cry.

Gameplay/Controls: Gameplay is relatively simple to understand as it is not far off from that of games like God of War or Darksiders. However one big unique thing is that this game strings the combos and awards points for creativity. The controls are simple enough and found them easier on PS3 than the xbox controller (just my observation). The only times I was frustrated was when you had to race to other ends and a simple slight miss of timing led you to your death. I also think the game could have been better with a lock-on feature at the very least for the boss fights.

Sounds: Voice acting isn't bad in this game and they paired the right voices for the right characters. The soundtrack in the game isn't bad either especially when you get to Mission 13 it just fits and makes the game experience even better.

Graphics: They are without a doubt nice in this game. Occasionally I had some framerate issues but considering all the action on the screen at times this can be expected and never made me frustrated or disappointed. You can also tell that Capcom invested in the character models as each one is well done.

Story: This series is not known for having the most impressive of stories in the video game industry like Mass Effect and Half-Life. However this game has a decent story that is enjoyable even if predictable at times. Certainly seemed to be an improvement over previous DMC titles stories.

Final Verdict: I found this game to be enjoyable and definitly worth a rent at the very least. Capcom has done an excellent job considering it is a reboot. Personally I even like this Dante better than the previous one (this one is also more cute). Overall I give this game 8/10 and only deduct for being short and having a lack of lock-on ability.

game is good graphics are nice but camera can get annoying changing as it pleases and at worst time. but this is a great game you should play atleast twice to get 100%. beatinging and returning to old levels is best ways to do it.
