I've been a big fan of DK since the SNES classic Donkey Kong Country came out. I've followed him from then all the way up to now. Though since game developer Rare left Nintendo, Donkey Kong has never really felt the same.
DK: Jungle Climber is a step in right direction. It doesn't hide from its DKC roots by using original character from the DKC trilogy and even its music. I never played developer Pann's first DK game DK: King of Swing. The game builds upon that model. You control Donkey Kong through many different worlds, but instead of side scrolling through the game, you climb on pegs, vines, and anything you can get your hands on. This make the game feel fresh as you can explore these worlds through the DS's two screens. You get to use other characters as well such as Diddy Kong to throw around at enemies.
I do miss the witty dialog from DKC series that made it feel so unique. After years without a tradition DK this is the best since DK 64. It's worth a rent, not a buy.
