So-so tracks. Easier than the DDR Extreme games

First off, you need a dance mat for this game, so if you don't have one, this is a very poor rental! You can play with the regular controller, but it's not very fun that way.
Each DDR game has different music -- in fact, that's the whole reason that new DDR games are released. This version's music list is pretty sporadic, with tracks of many different genres and speeds. As a result, everybody can find a few songs they like, but few people will enjoy more than half the tracks.
The licensed music is similarly all over the board, though most of the licensed songs are really danceable. Even an oldie like Long Train Running comes out very fun to dance to.
This is a relatively old DDR game, and you can tell in one important way: the difficulty levels are easier in this version than in later games. I can't handle the so-called 8-foot songs in DDR Extreme 2, but I can do 9-foot songs on this disc. That's not really a problem; it can be a good thing. If you've played a bunch of DDR Extreme or Ultramix games, this game can be the bridge up to the very difficult songs on those later games.
If you're new to DDR, go with DDR Extreme 2, I think it has more fun songs.
