It's a coloring book adventure as you get Violet or Filup (why'd they spell it like that?) from one side of the screen to the other.
Along the way, our hero will walk into a few obstacles like holes in the ground, walls, and boulders. To get around these obstacles you draw straight lines that make bridges, knock certain objects out of the way or by coloring in certain items like boats, clouds, and ladders.
Our hero gets to the exit, and you repeat the process over again. And again. And again.
Kids who like coloring books will find the game interesting. If only the game play elements didn't have any problems.
The mechanism used to flick objects out of the way is clunky and haphazard. It's only luck that I was able to achieve the art of obstacle moving.
The drawing part is also clumsily put together as it's too easy to make a bridge or ramp that our hero won't climb on board.
On harder settings, the game makes Violet and Filup into idiots as they mindlessly walk off cliffs and/or into deep water. Why they do that is beyond me.
But the biggest problem with Crayola Colorful Journey is that it's repetitive. Each level is the same; make bridges, color in items and watch Filup or Violet walk from the entrance to the exit.
If you're looking for a game based on a coloring book, try de Blob.
Crayola Colorful Journey just has too many control issues and isn't thrilling. SKIP IT.

I think this adventure game was pretty cool....but not for the age you would think. I got this game for my 6 and 7 year olds, but they both were having difficulties playing it. The game itself is not too bad, but if you are trying to get all the crayons in all the levels, it is not so easy. My kids could not do it and I was even having trouble getting some of them. It walks itself and goes pretty quick, so you are constantly drawing blocks back and forth to get up to some of those high crayons. It was too difficult for the age it should have been designed for.

we rented this game for our kids who are 3 1/2 and 6. we realy counldn't figure out the point of the game. The characters just walk on their own and at time to fast to color in objects on the screen. We attempted to use the tutorial and it stopped working in the middle. I think it was becasue we were supposed to make a block or something and couldn't figure out how to get the character moving. I was very disappointed. I have yet to find a game that my 3 1/2 year old can do easily on her own.
