Lately Crash's games haven't been very good, but this one is decent. The controls are easy and the gameplay is nice, but a little repetitious sometimes. Crash's old games were better but I still think this one is good.

It's been a while since a decent new Crash game came out. We've seen the off-shoots of racing and party games, but not much in terms of bringing the once 'face of playstation' back to the front. Now we have something.
Crash of the Titans is a good platformer that adds a neat mix into the Crash series. The formula is pretty much the same: going straight through levels, defeating enemies and jumping pitfalls and traps. Story is nothing really to speak of. the new feature here is the ability to take control of several different monsters , the 'titans'. By first beating a monster to a point, you can hitch a ride and throw your mask friend on his face and you take full control of the monster. Each monster has different abilities, one normal attack, a strong attack, and a special attack. Some have ranged shots and others are heavy hitters, sometimes with fire, ice, or toxic side effects. This makes the game feel interesting and give some different strategies. the game prevents your monsters from jumping, so you can't take them through entire levels. It's like using the enemies weapons against them.
Yet, the game is short, encompassing only 20 levels. By jacking or defeating so many enemeies you can get new costumes. Other unlockables include concept art and other bonuses.
The game does not have much in replay, so it is better for a rent rather than a buy. Still, this is a very good game, and a fun platformer to try while we wait for Super Mario Galaxy to arrive.
Boring gameplay, uninspired graphics, lame characters and stupid story even for a children's game had me regretting the risk of renting this and not getting HL2:TOB. The only reason to play this game seems to be the ease of getting gamerpoints (I got 40 or 50 in about ten minutes of play). If that's what your after - knock yourself out. Me - I'll burn the game with a sanctified fire and then lock the ashes in a box to be buried somewhere deep within the earth so as to never be bothered by it again.
