I rented this game and returned it the next day. I'm not up on the correct terms but the game looked like it was in the "making of" process. If you have ever seen the process of making an animated movie then you know what I am talking about. The characters mouth didn't move with the words and the faces kept shifting. it was creepy for a kids game. Also, I chose this game because I'm a simple jump over the mushroom and collect coins girl. this game is for your 1st grader. maybe that's why the game looks like a mess.

This game I thought would be decent but its a kids game pure and simple, unlike the Movie, the game does not follow the movie, and your pretty limited as to where you can go. Played it for a few hours and then decided it was not for me, perhaps you might like it for your kids but def not for adults

Coraline - Great movie, not so great game

I received this game yesterday and couldn't wait to play it because the movie was so quirky and good. The game starts out fairly nicely but jerky controls quickly become problematic. The storyline moves along at the pace it should and the music fits every level.
For those with children who will be playing this game, expect a very high level of frustration fairly quickly. The simplest moves (i.e. climbing onto a box) are so awkward and there are spots where the camera just won't let you see what you are doing.

There is also a big glitch in this. On the level where you follow the Amazing Bobinski into the barn to find his security code, you will (finally) start crossing the barn. Just as you reach the other side, the screen goes black, though the audio still plays. Having reset the game three times, cleaning the disc and checking my machine, the only conclusion is that this is an in-game glitch that the developers should have fixed before releasing. I had to pay to skip the level and move on, and missed a large chunk of the game in the process. Actually, the developers should have taken more time and fixed a lot of stuff before release.

The final level is such a mish-mash of ill-timed button pressing that anyone under the age of 13 will probably throw their controller through the TV. I usually find quite a bit to like in most every video game, but this one is just so bad that it's not worth renting.
