Cooking Mama is definitely a must play game, though don't expect to be hooked for long. In the game you play as a protégé to Cooking Mama who will guide you though multiple dishes each containing a series of task's. You slice and dice, stew and fry, peel and stir, and even arrange your prepared dishes on a plate. There is even a bonus area where you can put your honed skills to the test. All a ton of fun and very addicting! Now here's why you won't be addicted long. There are a very limited number of unlock able dishes to cook, like about 15-20 and some are extremely hard. The thing is that in order to complete a dish and get a gold medal (you can however settle for a silver medal, I don't think it matters), you must score perfectly on every task in the dish. And frankly I finally had to quit and return the game because I just couldn't complete one of the tasks. It was just too hard and the time limit didn't help. You see that's the thing about this game, some of the tasks are so easy and some are excruciatingly hard! Plus there is no story line and that makes the game a little boring. So to sum it all up, Cooking Mama is a very colorful, fun, and addicting game that will have you playing long into the night. The cute graphics never get tiring and the way the game utilizes every aspect of the DS is amazing. But the uneven difficulty and short game play will have you hanging up your kitchen mitten a little too quickly. So rent it, enjoy it, and most of all expect to return it within a week.
This game is a pretty cool. It is very addicting. It is a good game for people of all ages. And it teaches you how to cook. The only fault I found in the game was that the directions are sometimes not clear enough on how to cook the food.
