'Condemned 2: Bloodshot'. Thumbs Up

I rated Condemned 2:Bloodshot a 7/10 instead of an 8, like I did the original Condemned game. In my opinion, video games are supposed to be a treat that don't make you think about if the game you're playing is too much of a hassle than it is an enjoyment. In the case of C2:B, few improvements and a step in the wrong direction gave itself a downgrade of a score. In Bloodshot, the franchise steered away from the core gameplay I liked so much in the original by tweaking the combat. It was once a unique action game, now a clumsy hybrid of a FPS. The new guns and functionality of all your gadgets are impressive. The melee combo system was a blast. And I do say the game was bloodier to boot. But with all the new upgrades to the combat, it was a too violent of a shift that made me feel like the game I liked went into a direction I didn't like. I suppose my biggest gripe was the story.--The veil of secrecy and mystery that surrounded the first game which made it all the more intriguing was lifted to reveal a disappointing cult conspiracy. Don't get me wrong, the game was still worth one's time. The improved information gathering was in the right direction. And the biggest improvement goes to the ability to access your forensic equipment any time you desire, also using them as innovative tools to help you do other things as well. Even though the game took a bad turn, I enjoyed the experience overall. I give Condemned 2: Bloodshot a "Thumbs Up."

Gamerscore Incentive:
You will need to make an effort to nab some of the stranger achievements. It is unlikely you will meet the criteria for them on accident. Completing the game on normal, assuming you've kept your eye open for some of the achievements will get you about 150-250 Gamerscore. Most of the achievements are multiplayer.--Which like so many older games, it suffers from a lack of participants which ensures your incomplete score. There is very little incentive to play the game if you're looking to boost your Gamerscore.

You'll be wondering the same thing as I was once you've completed Condemned 2: Bloodshot; Why is this game so incredibly short? For a time, you'll be wondering how you played so late into the night, jumping along the way, until suddenly the experience starts to turn extremely cheap and then abruptly ends. The entire game spans probably 8 hours, (depending on difficulty,) and most of those hours are pure gaming bliss. As ex-Serial Crime Unit agent Ethan Thomas, a sudden new complication brings you back into the life you hoped to have left behind. After a somewhat strange tutorial, (which is hard to knock because it teaches you the mechanics it's just... weird...,) you are thrown into a world of black goo, murderous vagrants, and blood.

Now, if you come into this expecting straight first person shooting, straight up brawling, or even a superb horror experience, you'll walk away disappointed. It seems to try to be a jack of all trades, yet a master of none. The shooting is flawed at best, downright terrible at worst, the brawling could be called clumsy and broken, and the so-called "scares" are few and far between (although the level "Doll Factory" messes with your head in quite a few places.) And after the first few levels, the scares disappear to be replaced with superfluous "supernatural" shindigs, which I found incredulous and a huge copout. Heck, you even fight Ethan's alcoholism "Demon!"

Although there are several things to hate, there is even more to love. Where some might say the fighting mechanics are clunky, I found the depth that the system offers, which rewards timing and instinctual play over random button spamming. The gunplay is decent, although the main draw is melee. And the investigative segments are genius, grading you on how well you pay attention! Oh joy! And while the story does deteriorate, the beginning levels are excellent!

Overall, don't expect too much, but Condemned delivers a great game.

Condemned 2 fails on many levels for me to hit any key factors that it was made to hit.I'll flat out say i completly hated the combat system so that fact alone would obviously turn me off from the entire game.

PROS- creepy atmosphere, detailed graphics, wide variety of weapons to wield, twisted plot, unique concept for online modes.

CONS-linear gameplay, closterphobic areas through the entire game, linear and laggy online, broken combat system.

So this game isnt all bad it has a few things that caught my attention, but in the end it plays out too linear and narrow minded for me leaving a bad taste in my mouth.
