This is my first review and first PS3 game!!
I really love this game, the graphics, score and sound are great and I identify with the character of Conan. The game captures the look and feel of the Robert E. Howard stories and the Frank Frazetta paintings!
I love it because it's simple to pick up and play and most developers don't bother with that conceipt anymore.
Not with 12 buttons and two sticks to screw with these days. It may be too simple for hardcore gamers.
It's more like a arcade game, but to me that's good. I just want to play as Conan and hack my way through bad guys.
You can purchase combos but I would've liked to be able to upgrade Conan's sword or buy other weapons. On the other hand however you can kill any foe and pick up his weapon. The bosses are really more annoying than actually fun to beat. And I really hate all the button mashing just to open doors!! Who came up with that idea!? And, a couple of stages have catapults that you must crank to load, this is a big pain for me since I'm handicapped and have to use a stick so I end up having to switch between stick and controller in those stages. Most games present that problem for me these days but I deal. The health system needs to be fine tuned because they use runes (Like the hearts from Castlevania) that pop out of various items or from topless wenches after you save them.(My favorite!) The runes float around a bit before they reach you and you can get hit by foes within those few seconds.
Despite these few flaws Conan remains my favorite next gen game!
