Odd. Really, really odd

Okay, first, lemme just say that I played this in 2011. Why? Because Castlevania: Lords of Shadow was AMAZING and I wanted to see the previous game from developer MercurySteam. That game was Clive Barker's Jericho, so I rented it from Gamefly. Even though I am sick of military FPS and was excited to play another 90's style throwback horror shooter, I am SO glad I didn't buy this game.
The shooting is lame. It doesn't feel very visceral, and it is just very simmplistic. Technically, it's a mess too - lots of small areas and lots of loadings for each area. Story-wise, this is a very stupid game. Maybe that too is a 90's throwback, as I wouldn't wanna call One Unit Whole Blood, Duke Nukem or Shadow Warrior high art. But still, Jericho is loaded with terrible characters, profanity laden dialogue, and other nonsense.
The game is just weak. It apparently wasn't very good when it came out. But nowadays, next to Bulletstorm, Crysis 2, Duke Nukem Forever, etc. it's pretty unbearable. I want a new 90's-style horror shooter, but this is not the one to do it. Maybe Prey 2 will be the game I'm looking for. I'd hate to have to wait until Doom 4.
